Scam Alert: FairView Financial Services of Maine

Recently, Credit.com has received a number of alarming calls from individuals who claim to have had unpleasant dealings with a company identified as FairView Financial Services located in Wells, Maine.

Credit.com has contacted the Maine Attorney General and will update this alert as we find out more. If you encounter FairView Financial, please report your experiences to us at tidbits@credit.com.

Apparently, FairView representatives have been soliciting consumers offering easily obtainable unsecured personal loans in exchange for down payments or, in some cases, the purchase of an insurance policy.

Consumers complain that they sent FairView the earnest funds, but the company failed to deliver the promised loans.

The insurance company allegedly working with FairView identifies itself as the Kaitland Insurance Group. There is no address for Kaitland Insurance on any of the documents that consumers have forwarded to Credit.com.

If representatives of FairView Financial Services, or any other company with which you are unfamiliar, contact you, please be mindful of the following:

• Do not provide any sensitive personal information or discuss your personal financial situation.
• Ask the solicitor to send you all the details of their offer in writing.
• Neither mail nor wire funds without fully investigating the company’s background and authenticity.
