For many people, getting out of debt can seem like an insurmountable challenge. There are many strategies out there—from debt laddering, to bargain hunting and even investment vehicles. Recently, we came across one that piqued our interest. Jean Chatzky, personal finance guru and bestselling author, has introduced something called The Debt Diet™. This strategy focuses on behavior modification, much in the same way that plans to quit smoking work. (Read more about The Debt Diet™ here.) But will it work for personal debt?
That’s where you come in. We’re looking for five people to try out Jean’s Debt Diet. We’re calling our little experiment The Debt Diet™ Challenge. Those selected to participate will have full access to the Debt Diet program for a year, free of charge (it’s normally $49.95/year). In exchange we’d like to get regular updates about your progress, which we’ll post on Credit.com. Jean will be writing about the program for Credit.com as participants go through it, and will be speaking with them directly about their experiences and helping them along the way.
If you’re interested in participating, please complete the following questionnaire and email your answers to editorialteam@credit.com, with “Debt Diet” in the subject line.
Questionnaire applications are being accepted until May 20, 2011.
